The Joy of Reading Again

A 45-year-old man came to the NHIH Clinic who had lost his fingers from leprosy. He didn’t mention his hands; he just wanted his eyes checked as he was no longer able to read his Bible. We fitted him with reading glasses and gave him a newspaper to read. His eyes lit up and he flashed a toothy grin. That face was more powerful than his repeated “asante sana”. (Thank you very much in Swahili)
